  1. Why Vera give the ring to Chino?

Vera and Bodega went to chino apt to celebrate. when chino was talking to Bodega Vera interrupted Chino and gave the ring to chino because she didn't want the ring of the husband. Chino ,Vera and Bodega are talking in chino apt."I don't want it, I never did. her eyes still on Bodega." Vera is trying to say in the quote that she never wanted to marry the cuban guy. Vera said on the quote. i don't want ring. I never did. Vera want to be with Bodega.

  2. How does Chino think of Blanca's opinion?

Chino does not agree with Blanca's opinion and thoughts, but he does not say much because he loves her. Although Chino does not say anything to Blanca about her opinions he is getting sick of them. Something that Chino thinks of Blanca is that he thinks that she is closed minded and thinks the same of everyone and that they are all put in one category, like men for example. A piece of text evidence is, "You know Blanca, you really light me up when you get this way. You constantly knock me about being sexist and whine that all Latin men have some sort of sexism in them." This shows that Chino is honestly getting sick of Blanca's thoughts and that personally she does complain often about things that may not be fair to everyone like what she thinks of all Latin men.

  3. Is Vera able to be refered to as a "gold digger"?

In Bodega Dreams by Ernesto Quinonez Veronica (Vera) can be considered to be a "gold digger". Vera got married to a rich Cuban and moved in with him even though she did not feel anything towards him. In round 6, Vera had gone out with Willie Bodega and returned to Chino's house drunk. "... then took off her engagment ring. A big beautiful rock you needed to wear shades to look at. A glare that blinded you and brought vision of sunsets and golden sands. 'Keep it', she said, handing it to me." Then Vera says "I dont want it never did." This can show that Vera is a gold digger, because she has a gorgeous ring on her hand without wanting nor valuing the meaning to it; But if we go back to Chapter 9 Bodega tells why she married the Cuban man in the first place. On page 78 Bodega tells Chino, " She never wanted to marry him in the first place. It was her fucken mother who pushed her." In all reality Vera didn't want to marry the man but her mom pushed her to, making them both seem like gold diggers.

  4. Does Blanca's faith help her emotionally in many situations?

In Bodega Dreams by Ernesto Quinonez Blanca's faith does help her in many occasions, in the way that she responds to things occuring around her. Especially when speaking amoung the church. Chino and Blanca were on their way back from church, when they got stopped by Georgie Vato. They found it strange because Georigie was always one to be making jokes but not this time. this time he was serious as he yelled their name and came toward them. He finally let out the news that their appartment was on fire. "The moment came qhen most of the tenants, Pentecostal, Catholic, or whatever, got together to pray in the lobby" said Chino. With someone's house burnt down, property destroyed, and basically everything gone, its expected that theu woul begin to cry and to feel defeated with nothing they can do. Blanca would be one to feel that way because she's oe who has a baby on the way and is now homeless with no property. But instead, Blanca turned to praying to find comfort and security in this situation.

  5. Why did Fischman start the fire?

Chino and Blanca are at church because Chino decided to surprised Blanca and go to church for once in a while. As they were walking home they realized a friend and he told them that their apartment was on fire. Nazario was there and looked at each other and knew that Fischman had done it. Chino says “Fischman had done it. The fire was in retaliation for Salazar. The war was in full bloom”(145). This shows that Fischman had done it because it was something that involved the death of Salazar and Fischman probably wants payback. When Chino says “The war was in full bloom”, Chino might not be surprised if another incident happens because Bodega and Fischman are rivals that are trying to battle out for more land.
